<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte membrane or an electrode which is capable of maintaining proton conductivity even if used in the presence of moisture for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: In a first step, a hydrocarbon group polymer containing metal alkoxide and phosphoric acid are subjected to dehydration-condensation polymerization to obtain an intermediate product. Subsequently, in a second step, an electrolyte membrane made up of a skeleton part composed of the hydrocarbon group polymer and phosphoric acid conducting proton is obtained by irradiating the intermediate product with a microwave of such a wavelength that energy is selectively given to hydroxyl groups possessed by the intermediate product. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
