PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a micro calcified shadow in an image of a photographed object with higher accuracy. SOLUTION: In the method for detecting an abnormal shadow, a first eliminating means 220 eliminates noise by determining whether candidate points of calcification points extracted by a candidate point extracting means 210 are calcification points or noise, based on a first feature amount taking notice of the calcification point, and a second feature amount taking notice of a region near the calcification point. A second eliminating means 230 eliminates a cluster region caused by noise by determining whether cluster regions based on the candidate points which passed the elimination processing of the first eliminating means are the ones caused by the calcification points or noise, based on a third feature amount taking notice of the cluster region.
