PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the occurrence of breakage in an electrode and to form holes in a substrat steadily. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method of an electrode for a secondary battery, active materials 13 are coated on both main surfaces of a belt-shape substrate 12 leaving both ends along the longitudinal direction of the substrate 12 uncoated, and then, the active materials 13 are pressed so as to have fixed thicknesses by a pair of press rolls 15a, 15b from both main surface side of the substrate 12 and an electrode 14 is formed on the substrate 12. A process of forming holes 19 beforehand along the longitudinal direction of the substrate 12 on the substrate 12 corresponding to the boundary of the coated part and the uncoated part of the active material 13 is provided.
