PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weather strip for an automobile capable of improving a contour-following property in assembling, lightening a core material and preventing growth of stain by improving the core material to be buried in a trim part. SOLUTION: The core material 5 buried in the cross-section roughly U shaped and rubber made trim part 3 of the weather strip 2 is constituted of a back bone part 5a and a plurality of rib parts 5b which are a plate type and made of hard synthetic resin and a flat surface shape of each of the rib parts 5b is formed in a tapered roughly triangular shape on the weather strip 2 installed on a car body opening edge part 1 of a door D, etc. of the automobile.
