PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling fin capable of remarkably improving cooling efficiency and a method for forming the same. SOLUTION: This cooling fin 1 formed by dividing a part 4 having a cooling channel 2 formed therein at a surface L traversing the cooling channel 2 in a circulation direction of cooling medium and putting bonding material 7 between adhesion surfaces 5a, 6a of each divided pieces 5, 6 and making the bonding material 7 project out of end parts of each divided pieces 5, 6 and solidifying the same. Consequently, it is not necessary to form a cooling fin separate from the cooling channel 2 and press-fit the same, and to form a hole in which the separate cooling fin is press-fitted in a cylinder head 3 like a conventional cooling fin. Since the cooling fin 1 is formed by making the bonding material 7 project out of the end parts of the each divided piece 5, 6 and solidifying the same, the cooling fin 1 can be formed along the circulation direction of the cooling medium while making a section of the cooling channel 2 in a shape capable of maximizing cooling efficiency.
