PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device capable of preventing the accumulation of the cooled fluid in a cooling unit in a case when a set temperature of the cooled fluid is lower than the outside air temperature. SOLUTION: This cooling device comprises a cooling tower including a cooling unit connected with a supply pipe to which the cooled fluid flows in and a return pipe from which the cooled fluid flows out, a blower, a water spray tank and a water receiving tank, and a chiller unit having a compressor, a condenser, an expansion valve and an evaporator, and successively circulating a refrigerant in this order. The condenser is mounted inside of the cooling tower to allow the refrigerant cooled by the compressor to exchange the heat with the cooling water supplied from the water spray tank, and comprises a bypass pipe branched from the supply pipe, joined with the return pipe, and further connected with a chiller part pipe for allowing the cooled fluid to flow to the evaporator, direction switching valves respectively mounted on the bypass pipe and the return pipe for switching the cooled fluid to the cooling unit or the bypass pipe, and a means for controlling the opening and closing of the direction switch valves to allow the cooled fluid to intermittently flow to the cooling unit when the temperature of the cooled fluid is lower than the outside air temperature.
