<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which the miniaturization of the apparatus is achieved and the capacity of an image forming unit for black color is largely obtained compared to those for the other colors so that only monochrome images can be formed in large number, thereby enabling a user to reduce the running cost of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The typical structure of the image forming apparatus which forms a multi-color image such that developer images formed by the plurality of image forming units P (first, second, i-th, m-th, and (m+1)th) having developers of respective colors are superimposed one on another on an intermediate transfer body T, is characterised in that the intermediate transfer body T has a photoreceptive layer on its surface and is an image carrier in the form of a belt, on which latent images can be formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
