PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which is little in the occurrence of abnormal images even after a long-term repeated use, can obtain stable images of high image quality, and has very high durability. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor is obtained by sequentially forming at least a photosensitive layer (2) and a protective layer (6) containing a filler (3) on a conductive substrate (1), wherein the protective layer is formed through surface treatment by which the above inorganic filler is brought into contact with gaseous ozone.
