A method for recovering drilling fluid from a mixture of drilling fluid, drilled cuttings and beads, the method comprising the steps of introducing an initial stream of the mixture into a hydrocyclone (12), processing the initial stream with the hydrocyclone to produce a first stream and a second stream, the first stream comprising drilling fluid and beads and the second stream comprising drilled cuttings. The hydrocyclone has an interior at least partly lined with a cushioning material such as rubber.
