PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism excellent in survivability in intestines, generating polysaccharides in the intestines in high efficiency and preventing and treating obesity or diabetes.

SOLUTION: The new microorganism plays a roll for competitively inhibiting absorption of lower saccharides from the intestines by converting glucose, saccharose, fructose or the like ingested into the intestines to high molecular materials which are not absorbed into the body. A composition and a food composition containing a pharmaceutically effective amount of the microorganism are provided. Obesity, diabetes and the like are prevented or treated by using them.
