PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical element that can sufficiently prevent the electrolytes of elemental bodies from coming into contact with each other even when the elemental bodies are not hermetically sealed independently and, in addition, has an easily manufacturable constitution. SOLUTION: The electrochemical element 1 is mainly constituted of two or more elemental bodies (61, 62, and 63) containing first and second electrodes 10 and 20 faced to each other and separators 40 adjacently disposed between the electrodes 10 and 20, an electrolytic solution contained in the elemental bodies (61, 62, and 63), and a case 50 which houses the elemental bodies (61, 62, and 62) in a hermetically sealing state. The elemental bodies (61, 62, and 63) are electrically connected in series; and the volume A of the electrolytic solution packed in the case 50 at 25°C in temperature and 1 atm in air pressure, the total volumes X and Y of vacant spaces in the first and second electrodes 10 and 20, and the total volume Z of vacant spaces in the separator 40, are adjusted to meet the condition expressed by the inequality of 0.95≤äA/(X+Y+Z)}≤1.0.
