PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer type instrument capable of reducing a frictional resistance. SOLUTION: This instrument is equipped with a display device 2 for displaying prescribed information on a display surface, an index plate 4 having a see-through part 41 arranged in front of the display device 2, enabling to see through the display surface and an index part 42 arrayed around the see-through part 41, a flexible member 5 extending along the index part 42 around the see-through part 41, a pointer 7 fixed to the flexible member 5, a driving device 8 for moving the pointer 7 along the index part 42 by moving the flexible member 5 in the longitudinal direction, and a guide body 9 provided along the index part 42, for moving and guiding the flexible member 5.
