PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for conducting an safety action before gas pressure rises up to dangerous pressure of gas pressure before explosion critical pressure, so as to moderate inner pressure elevation in a gas container, and for blocking fuel finally, and an operation method for the device, as to the safety device of a portable gas hot-plate. SOLUTION: When the gas pressure in the gas container reaches the pressure P0 just before the gas pressure rises up to the dangerous pressure P1 of the gas pressure before the explosion critical pressure, a safety actuation part 11 provided elastically is operated at first by an elastic spring S0, the gas is discharged to a burner side through an auxiliary gas discharge pipe 26 by a prescribed amount to be burnt under a low pressure condition, controls are repeated to be restored to a usual combustion condition when the low pressure condition is maintained. When the gas pressure in the gas container rises up abruptly to pressure more than the the pressure P0 inside the auxiliary gas discharge pipe 26, a safety rod 13 is actuated by by an elastic spring S1 to separate the container automatically from a gas injection port, and gas supply is blocked completely.
