An adjusting device (AD) (9) alters light-scattering features for a lighting device (1) so that light emitted from a lighting element (LE) (3) is optionally scattered as directed light or as widely scattered light onto a surrounding area. A structure can be varied in its operation between the LE and a range (4) for the AD that deflects the LE's rays (6) and is penetrated by them. An independent claim is also included for a lighting system for a motor vehicle's interior.
