摘要 <p>The invention relates to a composition based on zirconium oxide and cerium oxide with a proportion of zirconium oxide amounting to at least 50 % by mass, having a maximum reductibility temperature of no more than 500 DEG C and a specific surface of at least 40m<2>/g after 6 hours calcination at 500 DEG C in the form of a tetragonal phase. The composition is obtained by a method wherein a mixture of zirconium and cerium compounds is precipitated; the medium thus obtained, containing a precipitate, is heated, an additive is added, said additive being selected from anionic surfactants, non-ionic surfactants, polyethylene glycols, carboxylic acids and the salts thereof and carboxymethyl fatty alcohol ethoxylate-type surfactants, to a medium from the previous step or to the separated precipitate, the precipitate is then ground and the precipitate is calcinated. The composition can be used as a catalyst.</p>
