<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory device and an information processing system that can prevent an unintended writing operation to a write-protected area of a buffer memory. <P>SOLUTION: The memory device includes a nonvolatile memory, a volatile memory as the buffer memory, a write-protection control circuit, and a control circuit. The write-protection control circuit receives an input of an address specifying a given area of the volatile memory, and generates a write-protection flag signal indicating whether the input address is an address corresponding to a write-protected area of the volatile memory or not. The control circuit responds to the write-protection flag signal by controlling reading and writing operations to the nonvolatile memory and volatile memory. Especially, when the write-protection flag signal is asserted, the control circuit controls the volatile memory so as to prevent the executing of a writing operation to the volatile memory. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
