PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright vacuum cleaner which is constituted of an attachable and detachable main body of the vacuum cleaner and prevented from injuring a user and damaging a floor when the main body of the vacuum cleaner falls during the use by carrying the vacuum cleaner with the hand. SOLUTION: The main body 1 of the vacuum cleaner with an electric fan and an attachable and detachable dust collecting part 12 and a hose 2 communicating with the dust collecting part 12 are detachably mounted on a stick part 3 having a suction device 31 for floors and an operational handle 32. The upright vacuum cleaner is equipped with a handle 14 for carrying the main body 1 of the vacuum cleaner with the hand on the upper side and the attachable and detachable dust collecting part 12 on the lower side of the main body 1 of the vacuum cleaner.
