PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a photoreceptor drum and charging roller from being damaged by toner or other foreign matters, and also to maintain good image quality and prolong the life of the photoreceptor drum, charging roller and cleaning roller. SOLUTION: A charging roller cleaning mechanism comprises: a charging roller 105 abutted and rotated with a photoreceptor drum 104 for forming images on the surface to charge the photoreceptor drum 104; and a cleaning roller 111 abutted and rotated with the charging roller 105. When an image is formed on the photoreceptor drum 104, the cleaning roller 111 is rotated following the charging roller 105. On the other hand, the cleaning roller 111 is reversely rotated with the charging roller 105 when the image is not formed on the photoreceptor drum 104. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
