PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for curing an unsaturated polyester resin in a form of one-component type, by finding out a compatibilizing agent useful for the resin, without using a curing catalyst, and to provide a method for making the resin water-borne, by establishing a basic technique for modifying and complexifying a chief ingredient comprising the unsaturated polyester resin so as to be the one-component type. SOLUTION: A modified unsaturated polyester/acrylic urethane resin composition is obtained by blending the chief ingredient comprising the unsaturated polyester resin with the compatibilizing agent together with an acrylic urethane resin copolymer, so as to be formed into the one-component type, wherein the compatibilizing agent is obtained by mixing a nonionic thickening agent into an emulsion of the polyester resin of a high concentration. An unsaturated polyester resin-containing water-borne resin composition is obtained by blending and mixing an acrylic copolymer emulsion resin into the one-component type composition comprising the modified unsaturated polyester/acrylic urethane resin composition.
