The sealing strip (1) has an elastically resetting foam strip (2) fitting when compressed in a tear-open casing (3) made of a plastics foil (4) which also forms the tear-off tab (5). The plastics foil can be stuck to itself to form the casing which is produced through spot welding at spaced intervals over the length of the strip whereby an opening slit (10) is formed between the intervals. Ultrasound welding is preferably used and a tear-open thread (14) is preferably incorporated.
