PEARLITE INSULATOR AND METHOD FOR MAKING THEREOF

A method of making a molded pearlite insulator, comprising steps for: mixing granular pearlite with liquid-state soda silicate at a ratio of (6~ 10):10 by weight to prepare a pearlite paste; mixing a hardening agent with the pearlite paste by adding the hardening agent to the pearlite paste at a ration of 0.1 to 10 % by weight of the liquid-state soda silicate and; shaping the mixed pearlite paste into a predetermined shape using a mold; and drying the shaped pearlite paste, and a molded pearlite insulator. Pearlite grains having a size of 0.5 to 8 mm are used as the granular pearlite, liquid-state sodium alumino silicate is used as the liquid-state soda silicate, and lime or sodium carbonate is used as the hardening agent.
