<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support for image forming material provided with high surface smoothness and extremely superior gloss and image recording material using the image recording material support. <P>SOLUTION: In the image recording material support, a coated layer is provided on at least the side of press-dry-processed base paper on which an image forming layer is provided and the coated layer is abutted to a smooth surface face and the state of the surface is transferred. It is preferable that the smooth surface is a metal drum surface which is mirror-processed and that a cast coat layer is provided on the surface side of the press-dry-processed base paper on which the image forming layer is provided.
