PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mount crystal oscillator whose flat area is maintained small and houses an IC chip and a capacitor. SOLUTION: In this surface-mount type crystal oscillator that houses a crystal piece, the IC chip, and the capacitor integrally in surface-mount containers, the crystal piece 1, the IC chip, and the capacitor are arranged vertically with respective plate surfaces made parallel. The surface-mount containers are an H structure type which has a recessed part on both principal planes, a connection type for connecting a mounting board to the bottom of the crystal oscillator, and a single space type having a single recessed part.
