PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a dipeptide, by which the dipeptide can be produced from raw materials capable of being inexpensively available through a profitable and simple route. SOLUTION: The method for producing the dipeptide is characterized by producing the dipeptide from an amino acid ester and an amino acid in the presence of a culture product of a microorganism having an ability to produce the dipeptide from the amino acid ester and the amino acid, the microorganism cells separated from the culture product, or the treated product of the microorganism cells.
