A simple and efficient filtering of useful data is achieved by a method for selecting useful data packets (2) transmitted to a mobile radio subscriber (1) of a cellular mobile radio network (4, 5, 7), which takes into account selection criteria data (6) representing selection criteria that have been stored by the mobile radio subscriber (1). Said method is characterised in that the useful data (2) is selected (8), prior to being transmitted via an air interface (5) of a mobile radio network (4, 5, 7), taking into account a current copy (9) of the selection criteria data (6). According to said method, a decision is made, based on the copy (9) of the selection criteria data, as to whether the useful data (2) should be transmitted to the mobile radio subscriber (1) via an air interface (5) of the mobile radio network (4, 5, 7). |
