<p>Metathesis catalysts comprising ruthenium complexes with an o-hydrocarbyloxybenzylidene ligand are made by ligand exchange with 2-propenyl-phenoxy compounds which are obtained from allyl phenyl ethers by Claisen rearrangement followed by double bond isomerisation and alkylation of the hydroxyl group or vice versa.
