PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic endoscope apparatus equipped with an ultrasonic endoscope whose distal end is further miniaturized. SOLUTION: A sector scanning unit 30 consists mainly of an ultrasonic vibrator 31, a motor housing 32, a first driving motor, and a sector unit body 34. The ultrasonic vibrator 31 and a position detecting member 35 are mounted on the outer surface of the motor housing 32. The first motor 33 is a three-phase brush-less motor, and the driving state of the motor is switched to a rotation state or to a locked state by selectively switching the current-carrying situation. A detection part 36 is mounted at the center on the distal end surface side of a flat plate part 34b. A vibrator driving signal outputted from a driving circuit 12a is transmitted to the ultrasonic vibrator 31, and an echo signal reflected on an organic tissue and received by the ultrasonic vibrator 31 is transmitted to an image processing circuit 12b.
