[Also in Division F2] A rotary member such as a grinding wheel is balanced by at least one weight in an hydraulic cylinder, the position of the or each weight being adjustable by regulating the supply of liquid to the respective cylinder ends. The arrangement shown employs two perpendicular cylinders 19, 19a mounted in the plane of rotation of the wheel 10 and each housing a balance weight 18 whose axial position is controlled by check valves 20a, 20b in the cylinder ends and controlling the flow through supply passages 22. The valves may be controlled manually or automatically by a vibration pick-up whose amplified filtered signal is fed through sampling gates to solenoid control valves, Fig. 2 (not shown). |
