<p>Molten material is continuously introduced into a mould rotating about a horizontal axis. The metal is solidified in tubular shape at one end of the mould by cooling, and the cooled pipe end is continuously withdrawn from this end of the mould. By subjecting the molten material to a centrifugal separation of liquid metal and slag before cooling, only pure metal is supplied to the cooling and solidification zone. An inert gas is preferably introduced into this zone. The inner surface of the pipe may be cleaned immediately after solidification by means of a drilling or working tool.</p> |
