The self inflated air cushioned bed has a base, multiple air units (20) each provided with at least two air cells (29) securely mounted on top of a substrate (22) and at least one unidirectional valve (40) mounted on the substrate to allow air to flow into the air cells. An expanding device (30) is received in each one of the air cells in each of the multiple air units to maintain the air cells, in an expanded state. When the air cells are expanded due to the expanding device, the unidirectional valve allows air to flow into the air cells so that the air units are maintained inflated. In use, the air units (20) are attached to the upper surface of a bed. A plug engages the joint between the plug receiving space and the inlet, and stops communication between the plug receiving space and the inlet, so that air flowing out of the air cells of each of the air units is blocked. The plug is made as a deformable plate. |
