The invention relates to a ferrule assembly (10;13) for optical fibres (50) comprising a high-density ferrule plate (11;14) with a two-dimensional array of through-holes (20) for said optical fibres (50). The holes of the ferrule plate (11;14) comprise substantially straight edges (21) adapted to substantially contain said optical fibres (50). The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing a high-density ferrule plate (11;14), a mould for die casting such a high-density ferrule plate (11;14) and a method for manufacturing such a mould.
