<p>A chuck for a lathe or milling machine has grip blocks (5) set in radial grooves and driven by control wedges (6) set in grooves orthogonal to the block grooves and with locking studs (10) for each wedge set into radial grooves. The locking studs are located into non rotating protective sleeves and are designed to absorb shock forces exerted by sudden drive from the wedges. The sleeve has an end strip (16) at the open end. The wedges are connected to the grip blocks by interlocking spiral thread (8, 9).</p> |
