The cell case contains an assembly of tubular electrochemically active elements held together (one above the other) by a gas feed tube sprung against the end of the elements. The feede tube supplies a first gas to the elements and a second gas for circulation inside the case. Pref. a zirconia or alumina layer (I) is deposited on those parts of the cell subjected to high temp. during operation to prevent reaction with or degradation of, the feed gases. (I) is pref. produced by spraying onto the part at 200 - 250 degrees C a soln. contg. 2 mols/l of aluminium oxychlorate then heating at 700 - 800 degress C to form the alumina coating. |
