<p>1,161,478. Extrusion-blow-moulding; neck flange. MECAPLAST S.A. 4 Aug., 1967 [4 Aug., 1966], No. 36025/67. Heading B5A. In an extrusion-blow-moulding process, a flange is formed on the neck of a parison to retain it on the mould by extruding a tubular parison 8 downwardly into a blow-mould 4,4<SP>1</SP>, the parison being pre-blown to form a bulge 9 thereon and squeezed by a nipping arrangement 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to form the flange. The nipping arrangement may be two co-operating symmetrical plates, hinged at 7, and defining a central opening, or a vertically reciprocable plate (Fig. 4, not shown) having a central orifice and movable on guide (10). In the case of the hinged plates, they are operated simultaneously by co-operating members (16, 17, Fig. 5, not shown) carried by plates 5, on the mould halves, and driven by a jack (11).</p> |
