Antibiotic tablets comprise (weight %): (i) 60-85 ~b-lactam antibiotic (ii) 1-10 disintegrant selected from lowly substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose and/or crosslinked polyvinyl pyrrolidone; and (iii) 0.5-2 binder. The composition may also comprise 0.5-10 weight % of a sweetening agent and/or a powder (preferably silica or material containing SiO2) with an average particle size of /- 50 ~mm especially a particle size of /- 150 ~mm. The binder is polyvinylpyrrolidone, hydroxypropyl cellulose, or hydroxy propylmethyl cellulose. The ~b-lactam antibiotic is cefixime used in an amount of 650 mg (400 mg active base) or cefuzinil used in an amount of 450 mg (300 mg active base).
