[Also in Division F2] A friction braking device prevents rotation of the crusher head 18 of a gyratory crusher with its supporting eccentric sleeve 26 particularly when starting or under no load, but permits retrograde rotation of the head relative to the eccentric sleeve under load conditions. The device comprises a first brake disc or discs 64, 86 supported by the crusher head 18 for non-rotatable gyratory movement therewith and connected by torsion means, e.g. a cable 68 or a torsion bar to a non-rotatable portion 40 of the crusher structure. A second brake disc 76 is carried by and rotatable with the crusher head 18 by means of a stud 60 cooperates with the first brake disc or discs 64, 86 and effects braking action. The cable 68 has a rocking connection with the plate 40 by teeth 74 on a bushing 72 rolling against grooves or slots 52 of the plate 40. The crushing gap is adjustable by movement of an hydraulic piston 46, in known manner. |
