[Also in Division B7] A laminate 1 comprises blocks of rigid, P.V.C. foam 3 attached to a flexible glass fibre backing 5 arranged adjacent to each other in edge-toedge relationship so that they are capable of relative movement when the backing is flexed. The adjacent edges of the blocks in the unflexed laminate may be spaced from each other or in contact. A boat hull 2 comprises an outer layer 7 of resin reinforced with chopped glass mat 9 to which the laminate 1 is adhered and a fibre reinforced layer 11 having a resin overlay 13. The laminate may also be incorporated between sheets of metal, wood, asbestos cement and thermoplastic materials.</p> |
