PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software distribution system, a distribution server, a receiving client, and a software distribution method providing the faster provision of software. SOLUTION: The distribution server 100 specifies one or a plurality of distribution target receiving clients 200 from distribution target information, and it distributes software to the receiving clients 200 by push type distribution. The receiving client 200 carries out a process of upgrading software when the received software is upgraded.
