The linear drive includes a gas generator (10) with an ignition unit (16), and a protective cap (18) to secure the gas generator (10) before and during the assembly of the gas generator (10). In the installed state of the device, at least a portion of the protective cap (18), after the igniting of the gas generator (10), represents a function element.
