The aim of the invention is to create mobile telephones that have a compact design and are easy to operate even when a large-area screen is used and a high-quality camera is provided, requiring constructive solutions which allow developers of such devices to accommodate the different components in a compact manner within a comparatively flat housing. Said aim is achieved by a mobile telephone (1) comprising a keypad module (2) with an integrated camera (8) and a screen module (3) that is rotatably connected thereto, the axis of rotation (7) defined by a joint and the optical axis of the camera (8) being perpendicular to each other. High-quality lens systems, especially lens systems having a variable focal length, can be used as a result of the fact that the camera (8) is mounted transversal to the longitudinal axis of the keypad module (2). The camera (8) can be directed in a simple manner to the object that is to be recorded while the image section captured by the lens system of the camera can be viewed on the large-area screen (4) of the mobile telephone (1), which is used as a viewfinder, due to the fact that the modules (2, 3) are freely rotatable relative to each other. |
