PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase destruction efficiency of an organochlorine compound and/or a halogen substitute of an organochlorine compound by a newly isolated white rot fungus. SOLUTION: The destruction efficiency of the organochlorine compound and/or the halogen substitute of the organochlorine compound is increased by culturing the white rot fungus specified by an accession number FERM P-18877 in the presence of 5-aminolevulinic acid.
