PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of lack of an idle capacity and to easily determine content data to be deleted, in a recorder for recording content data. SOLUTION: A content data management device has a setting information storage part 2001 for storing various setting information, a content data storage part 2002 for storing content data, a content data management information storage part 2003 for storing management information of content data, a setting information management means 1002 for managing setting information, a content data capacity acquisition means 1003 for acquiring a capacity of content data to be newly stored in the recorder, an idle capacity acquisition means 1004 for acquiring an idle capacity of the recorder. Further, the content data management device is provided with a deletion candidate determination means 1006 for determining deletion candidates on the basis of one of the numbers of times of reproduction, acquisition dates, and reproduction times in one reproduction in the case that a difference between these capacities is equal to or smaller than a certain value, and a content data deletion means 1005 for deleting content data determined as the deletion candidates.
