PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet stack inspecting device capable of grasping properly the stacked condition of sheets, in particular the sheet stacked condition when sheets are stacked parallel on a plurality of trays. SOLUTION: A stacking device 40 of this inspecting device includes the trays on which paper sheets 12 are stacked at a certain spacing so as to form bundles 12A. The inspecting device 70 photographs the plane image of the trays using a CCD camera 72 and detects any poor workmanship of stacking by computing the area of a paper part 82A ranging out of the edge line when the poor workmanship is generated in the judging region 82 including outside the edge line of the paper through the digitalizing process.
