PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detector for a vehicle which certainly informs a driver of a detection result of an obstacle without using an alarm sound or a display lamp, in the obstacle detector for detecting the obstacle near the vehicle. SOLUTION: The vehicle 12 has the obstacle detector for the vehicle comprising: sonar sensors 1 to 8 mounted along the outer periphery of the vehicle; vibrators A to H mounted inside a steering wheel 10; a rotary encoder 11 mounted in a shaft of the steering wheel 10; and an ECU 9. When a sonar sensor detects the obstacle, the ECU 9 vibrates the vibrator corresponding to the obstacle existing direction with reference to the center of the circle of the steering wheel 10. At this time, considering the rotation angle of the steering wheel 10 detected by the rotary encoder 11, a vibrator to be vibrated is selected.
