PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of an airbag module for an automobile, which has a housing capable of moving away from occupants, in order to reduce its manufacturing and assembling costs. SOLUTION: This airbag module has the housing for accommodating at least one gas generator and at least one airbag. The housing is not brought into contact with a dashboard, and can move away from the occupants. The housing has at least a pair of brackets comprising a first deformable bracket for fixing the housing to a body cross member and a second bracket. A long hole extending in the moving direction of the housing is provided in the second bracket, and it guides at least one connecting member when the housing moves while braking the movement of the housing.
