Treatment of waste gas containing sulfur and nitrogen oxides, dust and oxygen with a reducing agent at 200-500[deg]C in a reactor containing solid catalyst with ducts giving an open area of 50%, which have a hydraulic diameter of over 2 mm, is carried out: (a) in the presence and/or with addition of free calcium, magnesium, sodium and/or potassium oxide, carbonate and/or hydroxide; and (b) under specified gas flow conditions.
