<p>A staple formed into a letter C shape by a driver moving along the thickness direction of sheets of paper to be bound is inserted from the surface side of the sheets of paper. A pair of clinchers (23, 24) pivotably held at clincher holders (21, 22) so as to face the staple across the sheets of paper is pivoted by a clincher-operating member (27) moving in conjunction with movement of the driver. As a result, both legs of the staple are bent parallel to the rear face of the sheets of paper after penetrating through the sheets of paper. The height (H1) of the clinchers (23, 24) in the moving direction of the clincher-operating member (27) is set smaller than the height (H2) of the clincher holders (21, 22).</p> |
