FIELD: semi-continuous casting of metals, for example steel. ^ SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of feeding metal from casting ladle to intermediate ladle; drawing ingot as it solidifies from mold with use of drawing rolls by designed length value; interrupting ingot drawing while remaining head portion of ingot in mold; keeping ingot until it completely solidifies along its length and cross section; at keeping ingot, feeding additional metal remained in intermediate ladle from said ladle to mold at quantity of additional metal equal at least to volume shrinkage of drawn portion of ingot. Such makeup provides compensation of volume shrinkage of head portion of ingot and also of its internal zones. ^ EFFECT: enhanced quality of ingot, less loss of yield. ^ 1 dwg, 1 ex |
