PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component support substrate having small optical transmission loss that can surely align without the deviation of an optical axis. SOLUTION: The optical component support substrate 10 is provided with a substrate 11, a second recess part to be formed 22, and an aligning guide member 24 and the like. A first recess 21 is opened at the side of a principal surface 12 of the substrate 11. A second recess part 22 to be formed has a second recess 23 positioned in the first recess 21, having a smaller diameter than the first recess 21 and opened at the side of at least the principal surface 12. The aligning guide member 24 is supported by being fitted to the second recess 23, and a part thereof is protruded at the side of the principal surface 12.
