PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To download a map only when the map is updated in a map display system, a user terminal constituting the map display system, and a program that can be executed for the user terminal. SOLUTION: The user terminal 3, each time a map picture is downloaded from a management server 2, stores the map data in a data storage section 38 after making the map picture correspond to a management ID and the time of update. The user terminal 3 also detects its own position by a position detecting section 34, transmits positional information to a management server 2, and receives the management ID and the time of update from the management server 2. When a management ID having the same value with the received management ID is stored in the data storage section 38 and the time of update on or after the received time of update is stored in the data storage section 38, the user terminal 3 reads a map picture out of the data storage section 38 and displays the map picture on a display section 35.
